In the evening
(or anytime, really)
take a kettle
and fill it with water.
Put it on the stove,
and let the heat
invite the steam to sing.
Pour the water
over dried herbs,
loose leaf, or in a bag.
Let it sit,
and sit with it,
(maybe outside).
After 5 minutes, or ten,
have passed,
breathe the steeping scent
as you close your eyes
and remember
what it feels like
to love
yourself
enough
to notice
every drop.
April is National Poetry Month, so I’ll be writing or sharing a poem each day, either posted here in the journal or on social media.
Sensual reminder of the value of noticing every drop and every bite and that it’s an act of self-love. A perfect antidote to our eat-and-drink-on-the-run culture.
